Windows 7 Software Compatibility Testing - EVEREST Ultimate Edition

Posted in Reviews, Utilities  by Lucas Artigas

Since February 5th, when Lavalys released EVEREST Ultimate Edition 5.00 Version they claim it is fully compatible with Windows 7. The latest version is 5.01 and today I'm going to try to shed some light over the way this popular benchmarking and system diagnostics application performs under the Windows 7 environment. For those who still do not know EVEREST, I can tell that this program is an extremely useful tool when it comes to system optimizations and tweaking as it offers core information about the system and its overclocking, it also performs advanced hardware monitoring and provides diagnostics in order to compare the effect of settings over the machine performance.

Moreover, EVEREST Ultimate Edition is not only intended for hardware, but also for offering comprehensive information about software, operating system and security issues, thus, being a very handy tool for system diagnostics. All arranged in a total of 100 pages with accurate PC information.

So let's see how does EVEREST performs in Windows 7 and whether Lavalys statement of fully compatibility is true or not.

Install & Run
To begging with, installation process and getting EVEREST to run was a smooth and extremely easy process, no complicated options, no confusing dialogs at all, just a simple, few options and straight forward procedure, couldn't ask for more!

After that short process, the application launches and its resources consumption is more than acceptable: 25 MB for the main application and around 33 MB extra when running tools like the Cache & Memory Benchmark.

Integration
If we focus on the integration aspects of EVEREST, we may notice that it perfectly integrates with Win 7 environments, even showing hardware information on temperature and voltage of the various hardware sensors available very graphically in system tray's "hidden icons".

Tool & Information Pages
EVEREST shows all the information about the PC in various ways: In its main window we can find two panels, the one on the left show 15 categories arranged in a tree system and once you select one its related information is showed in the right panel. As it would take a lot of time and space I'm going to summarize in two big groups: Hardware related and Software related pages. Basically EVEREST shows us all the information for these two groups and all of them work in a very similar manner.

Clicking on a category show its sub categories (if it has) and clicking on one of these shows the collected information on the right panel. It is really simple and easy.

Regarding Tools I may say that all of them work really well and without any inconvenience. Starting with Disk Benchmark, it performs all tests and provides the required information.

The second Tool to be tried is Cache and Memory Benchmark which againd does what promises with no trouble at all.

The third Tool is Monitor Diagnostics with similar results, one detail that called my attention in this point is the depth and thoroughness of this bundle of tests as it provides so much information about the display parameters.

And the two last tests are the System Stability Test and EVEREST CPUID. These two also worked in an accurate way and with no signs of the slightest inconvenience.

Bugs Report
As you can imagine I am going to leave this section empty as no bug appeared in this test, nor did I find any bug-related post in the Web (not even in Lavalys forums) at least related to this version, there were a few bugs reports for 4.6 and 5.0 but they have been conveniently fixed for this release. So my congratulations go to EVEREST developing team as they have done a tremendous work with this amazing piece of software.

All in all, EVEREST proved efficiency and fully compatibility with Microsoft's newest OS.

Have you tried this incredible piece of software in you Windows 7 machine? As always, we are eager to read your comments and share opinions.
