Windows 7 Software Compatibility Testing - GOM Media Player

GOM Media Player is a Korean player with low resource occupation and build-in video decoder inside. GOM supports ordinary video formats and has various kinds of playing functions.

The latest official Version 2.1.16.4635 was released in March, 2009, even Windows 7 is not included in its official supporting operation system. We BrotherSoft tested the new GOM Media Player compatibility and stability on Windows 7.

The installation of GOM Player is only 5MB and is very easy with three playing mode options. The instructions run automatically after the installation. Play Broken AVI Files
Another notable feature for GOM Player is, it can play those broken or downloading files during the downloading process. GOM official website only states those broken AVI files. But in fact, GOM Player plays RMVB, ASF, AVI, MPEG files well even under the downloading process.

Powerful Subtitle Support
For the subtitle setting, GOM Player is compatible to SMI, SRT, RT, SUB formats. Property settings including subtitle position, font and size are also available. Karaoke and subtitle time adjustment are also optional for users. We found a better supportive ability in GOM Player on four subtitle formats. Even every subtitle character was played well in the test and no messy codes existed.

Convenient Playlist
Plenty of list formats can be started and played in GOM Player, such as M3U, PLS and ASX. And then those could be read or edited directly on it.

We choose several common formats for testing, even we know AVI、DIVX、MKV、MP4、ASF、WMV、RM are available. All other video formats passed the test successfully except for additional decoders for MOV and RMVB. Detailed testing results are as follows:

Build- in Control Panel will adjust the playing window brightness and contrast. No need to minimize the playing window and makes monitor settings.
