TimeTraveler 1.2
License - Shareware
Publisher - Bears on the Loose

It is a Windows Explorer bar that allows you to look at your documents, files and folders as they were at previous times.  The bar presents a timeline populated with ticks called points-in-time.  You can bring Windows Explorer back in time by moving the yellow thumb, or time cursor, to a point-in-time.  When a new point is selected, TimeTraveler translates the address from the Explorer address bar into its equivalent at the selected time so Explorer displays the folders and files from that time.  You can thereafter use Explorer to navigate the folders at the selected time, open files at that time or copy and paste files from that time into the present for recovery purposes, etc.

Key Features
Clearly see all the points-in-time stored on your disk(s)
Distinguish whether a point-in-time is a Windows restore point or not
Know if the file or folder selected in Explorer was modified at a point-in-time
Display all the files and folders as they were at a point-in-time

ObjectDock - Keep your Desktop Neat and Tidy with this Stylish Dock

Posted in Desktop Utilities, Reviews  by Lucas Artigas

It is true that, today, software advances permit us to achieve excellent visual effects, but many of them are excessively heavy for the common PCs and that is why we can notice a dramatic slowdown in the performance of our machines. However, the developers of ObjectDock seem to have found the right balance, ObjectDock is a really handy application that lets us incorporate a new and fancy dock to organize our desktop. ObjectDock allows us to take control of our icons, shortcuts and running tasks in a fun, customizable and animated way and thus making them available wherever and whenever we need them.

As we will see below, regarding aesthetics and behavior, ObjectDock features a strong resemblance to the Mac OS X bar. In this article I'm going to take you through its features and functionality, so, fasten your seat-belts ’cause I'm going to take your eyes for a ride!

First Impressions
The first time I came into contact with ObjectDock I thought "this is lively and entertaining utility to add to my desktop" and specially because I was really bored of seeing and using my usual taskbar, I mean, Windows taskbar (specifically in XP, as in Vista and 7 it is really improved due to the Aero features) has nothing bad in itself but customization possibilities are really limited to the addition of certain system tray applications which in many occasions end up being nothing but a nuisance. So, the first thing I am going to tell you is about ObjectDock's customization possibilities. Read the rest of this entry »

Hot 16 Window Enhancing Managers

Actually, the real convenience for a PC user is that, he can switch or manage windows as he wants to. Today, let me make the dream comes true. We especially collect you a set of 16 window enhancing managers aiming at providing you a better task management and faster browsing. Let's start from TaskSwitchXP.

TaskSwitchXP: Alt-Tab
As described in the name, it is an advanced task management utility, picking up a modern and new switcher instead of standard Windows Alt + Tab management. With thumbnail preview of the app displayed, the same functionality and visual styles in the dialog are supportive. If you need a very professional Alt + Tab manager, TaskSwitchXP is really a good choice.

Alt-tab Thingy - Windows
In fact, this Alt-tab Thingy provides the same Alt + Tab functions like the above mentioned. What's more in here is, Alt-tab Thingy gets more additional thumbnail effects. Such as preview similar to Visual Task Tips and windows on the top and be transparent. Specially, Alt-tab switcher could also be temporarily out of control due to any game setting. A Beautiful Prism from Mozilla

Mozilla Prism is really a strange "guy" without address, toolbar and Multi Tab browsing, even the plug-ins is also excluded. But it's the real Prism.

We all happens to experience it: one I just want to check any new mails in Gmail, or to write down the schedule for tomorrow in Google Calendar, or even to read Feed in Google Reader. Prior to those searching, I have to open Firefox first, (of course I must be quite familiar and are willing to use it). Are we really forced to work under kinds of plug-ins downloading and icons on toolbar opens finally?

Considering about this, Prism, this brilliant mirror, comes in handy. A shortcut of Gmail is set on my desktop, click it directly, Gmail runs fast and easily. I don't need any plug-ins because what I really need to check is my email.

Briefly, let's see how Prism works fantastically. Prism totally accesses web applications from system taskbar or dock. An obvious application in Prism is the desktop shortcut and dock menus. Prism sets all kinds of icon menus in desktop and there is no more need to wade through web browser windows. Reading or checking feed and emails seem quite convenient. Prism also handle those associate applications with browser links well. Web apps would handle those links like traditional desktop apps in Prism. The system running of  Prism is also quite easy. Applications run automatically when the computer starts. This is obviously effective for those important apps that we need them running all the time, such as, Gmail, Facebook or Flickr. The running apps are optional to your choice. If you do not like the normal display window, Prism helps you to minimize system tray on windows, they could stay out of the way when you don't need them. In like manner, those functions could be available with only a single mouse click. Both Windows and Mac users could experience Prism as long as he would like to. Read the rest of this entry »

Posted in Desktop Utilities, Reviews, Utilities  by Yuki

We are getting to be conventional facing a 2D desktop area. Would you like to interact with anything you are dealing with? Try to imagine, the desktop area a real desk, we pin up photographs, we pile related items into stacks, and we are also likely to see a dynamic effect. As a consequence, BumpTop realized it for Windows. Cold and vertical interfaces quickly turn into a dynamic 3D room. Standing at the door place, items list as usual. But as you click or alter, things changed. To be honest, I feel much more curious about it and download a free trial. How to say? I am totally fall in love with such a small interactive 3D player but wild with joy.

Facing a real world in three dimensions, I do a lot. Certain items become bigger, then smaller. I am my real desktop organizer. The beginning starting tutorial taught me so. Let's see the specific interaction!

Undoubtedly, I am in front of three walls with BumpTop. Firstly I made a few document organizations. 3D, fan out, put on grids, files are so easily to be altered. I tried to search files with specific keywords, it is really successful.

Additionally, I want to see more accustomed improvements on file shrinking and growing. So I tested like this. I at first choose any important ones here. With BumpTop, the files are selected according to specific formats and functions. For example, a folder on Excel, Word, or Search Engine, and Zip files. With only one click, your desktop folders are quickly collected into 4 or 5 ones. For any file you needed, move your mouse to its new folder, there it is! All the folders can be opened out together in a common plane. Drag the one you needed. Read the rest of this entry »
