Firefox for Windows 8 Metro under development by Mozilla

Posted in Internet, News  by Eric

Mozilla developers already have a lot on their plates. In addition to dealing with shorter release cycles for Firefox and Thunderbird, they’re now looking after tablet and smartphone versions of Firefox for Android, Firefox Home on iOS, and there’s a new long-term support version of Firefox, too. On top of that, they’re starting work on a Metro version of Firefox for Windows 8.

The Foundation plans on having the first test builds ready to go before summer, with alpha and beta releases slated for some time during the second half of 2012. Getting Firefox re-tooled using the WinRT programming model is important as it will allow Mozilla to submit the browser to the Windows Store, which will be front-and-center in Windows 8 — and will quickly become the destination for Windows users who are hunting for new software.

Waterfox 10 comes with all the power and features of Firefox with added 64-bit goodness

Posted in Internet, News  by Eric

When it comes to operating systems, 64-bit is becoming increasingly popular. The ability to access additional, and ever-more-important, memory is a bit draw, as is the added security and stability. But despite a general move to 64-bits for OSes, there is still relatively little 64-bit software that has been written to take advantage of them. This is also true in the browser arena, but it is something that is being addressed by Waterfox 10, a 64-bit version of Firefox.

While it is true that there are already 64-bit versions of Firefox available, this is only the case in the less stable Nightly and Aurora channels, and this is not something that everyone will be comfortable using. It is also worth noting the existence of Pale Moon, which is another Firefox-based web browser that also has a 64-bit version available. Waterfox is fully 64-bit and is based on the latest Firefox code – this means that the two browsers are all but identical, save for the color and labeling of the Firefox/Waterfox menu button.

2. All Best Browsers Compatible to New Facebook Ticker, Chat, Timeline

Recently Facebook has officially released the Facebook Timeline all over the world. The latest feeds and updates are displayed in the form of Facebook Ticker, also the chat box is completely changed. Well, this is not at all that impressive with some browsers. Recently i was checking my facebook timeline in some browsers and was finding which browser will suit my screen perfectly. To my surprise almost all browsers have the same layout and design which is not that compatible with the facebook ticker and chat box. The worst part which i don’t like in many browsers is, it combines the Ticker and Chat box in a single column and gives us a option to manage yourself. It may be the length or width of the Ticker and Chat box, you have to fight your own battle with them. I have checked Facebook timeline performance in almost 8 famous and latest browsers. But one browser has got all that amazing stuff which i needed in my browser. Specially when i use my Facebook account regularly. Check out some screenshots below where i have mentioned the compatibility of Facebook in each and every browser. I have made my own custom list among all the best browsers in world which support Facebook. More about it Here:

Facebook files for IPO

Posted in Chat & E-mail, Internet, News  by Eric

Facebook Inc. filed for an initial public offering Wednesday that could value the social network between $75 billion and $100 billion, putting the company on track for one of the biggest U.S. stock-market debuts of all time.

The company hopes to raise as much as $10 billion when it begins selling shares this spring, said people familiar with the matter. Potential buyers got their first look at its financials Wednesday, which showed the company produced a $1 billion profit last year from $3.71 billion in revenues. The company derives 85% of those revenues from advertising, with the rest from social gaming and other fees.

Firefox 10 FINAL brings better add-on compatibility

Posted in Internet, News  by Eric

Ahead of its official unveiling, Firefox 10 FINAL has appeared on the Mozilla download servers, allowing impatient users the opportunity to download and install the new version up to a day early.

Version 10’s headline new feature will appeal to those frustrated with having to wait for browser extensions to be recognised as compatible by new builds: from version 10 onwards, browser extensions will automatically be considered compatible unless specifically marked otherwise. It will also see a minor interface tweak – the loss of the browser forward button – and some new tools that will appeal to developers.

The development making waves in Firefox 10 is the way it handles browser extensions. Previously, unless an extension was specifically marked as compatible for the latest version release, it would disabled until updated by the developer. With new versions now appearing on the dot every six weeks, this has been a source of frustration to developers and end users alike.

Firefox 10 available for download now

Posted in Internet, News  by Eric

Firefox 10, the latest version of the Mozilla web browser, was released today and brought a bunch of developer tools with the new update. Non-developers get a few new features too: faster updates and better add-on compatibility.

Page Inspector, a new feature in this release, lets developers view a page’s layout and HTML structure. Firefox highlights the page area you want to inspect and display the HTML tag for the part of the page. Want to know the what font you are looking at? Use the Style Inspector to reveal CSS information for the page. Both Inspector features reveal how the page is structured and the rules used to create the page. You can even spend sometime playing around with the page, changing margins, font sizes, and more which is especially cool for those who’ve never worked with HTML or CSS before. Nothing is changed in the website’s real code, but developers can get a visual idea of how their pages will look.

Firefox 10 Coming Tomorrow

Posted in Internet, News  by Eric

Firefox is moving on to double digits tomorrow with the release of Firefox 10.

The update will apply to the desktop formats as well as the mobile edition for Android. For those “people,” who never upgraded to Firefox 4, version 3.6 will be updated to version 3.6.9 which only adds security and stability fixes.

During a meeting today, Firefox announced a new hire for Mozilla’s marketing team. Pete Scanlon, who previously worked for Google’s campaigns for Chrome, is now working for Mozilla.

As with the past few full version updates to Firefox, there’s not much going on for consumers. The new capabilities are mostly for developers.

Opera 11.61 launched with more than 50 fixes

Posted in Internet, News  by Eric

The latest addition to the stable release channel for Opera is Opera 11.61. The latest update includes more than fifty security and stability enhancements and is recommended for all users – you can either wait for the automatic updater to occur, or you can force a manual check and update from the Help menu. Two of the most important changes to the browser see a couple of on-going scripting problems being fixed, but there are also a large number of additional tweaks that address issues with various aspects of the program.

From a user interface point of view, there have been tweaks that fix problems such as incorrectly sized dialogs, incorrect icons and poor handling of fullscreen mode in Windows XP. Also fixed are a number of crash scenarios and better handling of third party skins. Users of previous versions of Opera have reported problems with a number of specific web sites including PayPal, NFL.com and others, and these crashes and freezes have now been fixed.

BitTorrent: Easily share files of any size

Posted in Internet, News  by Eric

When it comes to sharing files, there are a number of options available to you. If you want to share files with someone nearby, it may make sense to pop them on a USB drive and physically deliver them. For smaller files it is possible to make use of email, but things get trickier when larger files are involved. You could go as far as uploading files to your own web space or even setting up your own FTP server, but this is something that few people would want to go to these lengths. Share is a free tool that enables you to overcome these problems and share files of any size.

Coming from BitTorrent, it should come as no surprise to learn how Share works. It is essentially a personal torrent client that makes it possible to allow people of your choice to connect to your computer and access the files you have chosen to share; this is a great example of personal P2P. having created an account, files can be shared by using nothing more than drag and drop, and all you need to do is to select who you would like to share them with.

Sharing can be made into quite a social experience thanks to the ability to comment on files that are being shared. This is a great option if you are using the service to share files relating to a work project as it allows for a degree of collaboration. The fact that Share is available for both Mac and PC means that it is opened up to a larger audience and the ability to create groups for sharing means that sharing files with the same people time and time again is made as fast as possible.
