Security solutions company Kaspersky Lab announced its first security product for virtual machines on Monday, appropriately named Kaspersky Security for Virtualization, which is meant to simplify the security management practices in a network of virtual machines –especially ones running on VMware virtual infrastructure– and integrate them with Kaspersky's endpoint security solutions.
Kaspersky Security for Virtualization is a centrally-managed virtual security appliance that integrates with VMware vShield Endpoint and Kaspersky Endpoint Security. With the anti-malware functions operating in a centralized virtual appliance, admins can intelligently deploy virtual and endpoint security alongside one another in a single admin console. This can eliminate the need for duplicated resources on each virtual machine and ultimately improve the overall performance.

Lavasoft has today released Ad-Aware 10, the latest incarnation of its flagship antimalware package. The program will be available in three versions – Ad-Aware Free Antivirus+, Ad-Aware Personal Security ($12 per year) and Ad-Aware Pro Security ($36 per year) – but, unusually, it’s the free release this time around which sees the most significant change.
Many technologies which were previously reserved for the commercial editions only are now available in the free build, for instance. So real-time process protection will detect and block malware before it can launch; Registry protection looks out for potentially risky Registry changes, and real-time network protection blocks connections to blacklisted IP addresses. Ad-Aware 10 Free gains advanced rootkit protection, too, and the new (to this edition) Game Mode means the program can maintain all this without hassling you with extra alerts.

One of the easiest ways to scammed these days is simply through relying on one or two easily remembered, but weak, passwords for logging on to your various online accounts. What you need is a password manager, a tool that lets you store all your precious login details behind a single, strong master password.
Password managers aren’t uncommon, from the superb Lastpass to open-source marvel KeePass. And now security heavyweight Symantec has joined the party, offering its own free password management tool with the launch of Norton Identity Safe Beta.
Using just one weak password like “Glenda” or your pet’s favourite name makes the hacker’s job so much easier, as it’ll open up all of your accounts to them in one single swoop. That’s why it’s critical you try to use strong, unique passwords for each online account you have, but in practical terms how easy is it remembering which password goes with which account?

Your system is misbehaving, and you think there’s a good chance it’s been infected by malware, but your antivirus package isn’t raising any alerts. So what do you do next?
One option is to install the trial version of Security Task Manager. This can display all your running processes and rate their potential risk, but this is based purely on behaviour and code analysis, no signature files are required – and so it may highlight dangerous processes which other tools miss.
The program will also raise plenty of false alarms, unfortunately, and that’s all down to the way it works. On our test PC, for instance, it gave the entirely innocent “Microsoft SharePoint Workspace Extensions” process the second-highest rating. Why? Clicking it displayed the program’s various risk factors: it could monitor our Internet browser, recorded user input, had an invisible window, didn’t include a detailed description, and so on. These are all characteristics of malware, but many legitimate processes may have them too, so you can’t take Security Task Manager’s ratings too literally: they’re a pointer for initial investigations, that’s all.

Recently Facebook has officially released the Facebook Timeline all over the world. The latest feeds and updates are displayed in the form of Facebook Ticker, also the chat box is completely changed. Well, this is not at all that impressive with some browsers. Recently i was checking my facebook timeline in some browsers and was finding which browser will suit my screen perfectly. To my surprise almost all browsers have the same layout and design which is not that compatible with the facebook ticker and chat box. The worst part which i don’t like in many browsers is, it combines the Ticker and Chat box in a single column and gives us a option to manage yourself. It may be the length or width of the Ticker and Chat box, you have to fight your own battle with them. I have checked Facebook timeline performance in almost 8 famous and latest browsers. But one browser has got all that amazing stuff which i needed in my browser. Specially when i use my Facebook account regularly. Check out some screenshots below where i have mentioned the compatibility of Facebook in each and every browser. Kingsoft today announced one of its major products, Kingsoft Office for Android is free. This App is the only Office application Kingsoft has ported to Android platform, which is designed to handle Microsoft and Kingsoft Office files on Android cell phone or tablet. The first version is released in August 2011 and has been sold at the price of $14.99 since then. Kingsoft said the free policy is made to meet the trend of Mobile Internet.
William, the Director of Kingsoft Office Mobility department said this morning that "Since the launch of Kingsoft Office for Android nearly 5 months ago, the numbers of our customers has grown sharply. However, the need to handle documents anywhere and at anytime for free is urgent. So, in order to meet the new development trend of Mobile Internet, we decide to make this app free."
William's speech has aroused a drastic debate within Kingsoft Office Company.
Some people hold that the last thing Kingsoft should do is to make this product free. This view is quite common because Kingsoft Office for Android has been receiving a lot of compliments from users since its release in August this year. With its user friendly interface and rich features setting it apart from its competitors, it has been elected to be the hot product in the Android Market of Google since September. Kingsoft Office for Android has been bringing steady profit to the company and the user base is also expanding.
While, more people hold different point of view. They believe that it is more important for Kingsoft Office to put the 'Kingsoft Office Brand' in the first place. At the same time, the pressure they are under is much more different than ever before. The need to have a complete, and full free office software for a rainy day for users is urgent. Although the free policy will result in some loss of profits, it is an effective way to accomplish its target.
As a result, after all these debates within the company, the board of Kingsoft made their final decision this morning and announced that Kingsoft Office for Android would be free from 14th Dec, this year. All the users who bought this product before, will get refund.

Kaspersky Lab, the security research company and prominent antivirus software vendor has announced its intent to withdraw from the Business Software Alliance because of the Alliance's support for the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).
BSA and SIIA are the software industry's two biggest trade groups. Since both groups have strong anti-piracy stances, neither directly opposed the Stop Online Piracy Act. Both expressed interest in working with Congress to design the law.
After the bill was introduced last October, BSA President and CEO Robert Holleyman said, "As Congress continues its work on this legislation, it will be important to strike the right balance between two sets of considerations — enabling effective action against online pirates, while also ensuring the law does not impede technology innovation or the evolution of software and the Internet, which are critical engines for future economic growth. We look forward to working with Chairman Smith and his colleagues as they push this important legislation forward.”
