Since 2004, Mozilla has been offering a bounty of $500 for any security bug information, and now it upped the amount of the bounty to $3,000, undoubtedly attractive for bug finders.
As Lucas Adamski, Director of Security Engineering said in his blog, "While the original mission of protecting users by supporting security research has not changed, the security environment has changed tremendously. In recognition of these changes we are updating our security bounty program to better support constructive security research."
Increase of the bounty payment is not the only thing refreshed in the security bug bounty program, the scope covered by the program has also been expanded. Besides Firefox and Thunderbird, which are already included in the program, Firefox Mobile and any Mozilla services the products rely upon are added into it.

Mozilla Firefox has just announced an extension to disable an add-on called "Mozilla Sniffer", and added to the block list.It was discovered that this add-on contains code that intercepts login data submitted to any website, and sends this data to a remote location. Net Applications' web browser market share data of June was finally declared. Google Chrome grew to 7.24 percent, up from 7.04 in May and cracked the 7 percent mark.
Microsoft Internet Explorer went so far as 60.32 percent up from 60 percent, after falling to 59.95 percent in April and 59.75 percent in May.
On the contrary, Mozilla Firefox which has achieved 25 percent share in 2009 slipped below24 percent to 23.81 percent for the month. Similarly, Safari's gain was insignificant, going from 4.77 percent share in May to 4.85 percent in June.
Surprisingly, the market share data of Chrome was lower than that of StatCounter, which said June 28 that Chrome commands a 9.4 percent browser market share.

Mozilla has confirmed that the next major update is Firefox 4.0. The 4.0 Version is headed for an October or November 2010 release and will bring new users interface and browser sync integration. They predict that the first beta hitting will appear in June.
